Sun & Moon Path is an iPhone Sun and Moon planning app developed by Will Burrard-Lucas and presented on FrontierTwo. This policy describes the Sun & Moon Path app. Use of the FrontierTwo website, including its feedback form, is covered separately by the website’s privacy information.

Sun & Moon Path has no account system, advertising, analytics service or developer-operated backend. We do not receive your saved places, location history, camera images or usage activity from the app.

Location

When you choose Use My Location or open the AR view, Sun & Moon Path requests permission to use your location while you are using the app. It uses that location to calculate Sun and Moon positions and align the AR view with true north. AR always refers to your current physical location.

Sun & Moon Path does not request background location permission or maintain a location-history database. A location you choose to save becomes part of your locally stored places.

You can use the planner without location permission by entering coordinates and choosing a timezone manually. You can change location permission in iOS Settings.

Camera

The AR view requests camera access to show the Sun’s or Moon’s predicted path over your surroundings. Camera processing takes place on your device. Sun & Moon Path does not automatically save camera images or upload them to the developer.

When you choose Share in AR, the app creates a still image of the current view, with the selected place, date, time and tracking context. Nothing is shared until you choose a destination or action in the system share sheet.

Saved places and preferences

Place names, coordinates, timezone identifiers, notes and time-format preferences are stored locally on your device. The app retains a previous-file backup to help recover saved data. These files are available through the Files app and may be included in ordinary device backups managed by Apple or by you. Sun & Moon Path does not operate its own cloud-sync service.

You can edit or delete saved places in the app. A previous version of a place may remain in the app’s backup file until a later save replaces it. Device backups may also retain older data according to the backup provider’s settings.

Importing saved places

You can choose a Moon Path places.json file through Files to import places into Sun & Moon Path. The app reads only the file you choose using iOS file-access permissions. Imports are processed on your device, retain existing places and settings, and do not modify the original file. The imported names, coordinates, timezones and notes become part of the same local saved-place archive and backup described above.

Sun and Moon phase, position, brightness and event calculations run locally. The bundled MIT-licensed Astronomy Engine library adds no account, network service, analytics or developer data collection.

Apple services

Maps, place search and automatic timezone lookup use Apple services. They may send search text, the map area or relevant coordinates to Apple. Apple’s handling of those requests is governed by Apple’s privacy policy.

Sun and Moon calculations, the planner dials, and manually entered or saved places with confirmed timezones work without a network connection.

Sharing and Photos

Sharing is initiated by you. A planner or AR image includes the labelled place and time and may include coordinates or the scene visible through the camera. Review an image before sharing it if it contains a location or other details you want to keep private.

The destination you select in the system share sheet may save, send or upload the image under its own policies. Sun & Moon Path does not read your photo library. Saving an image to Photos is an explicit action chosen in the share sheet.
