Shot Stamp for Mac support

Shot Stamp 1.1.0 is free for macOS 14 or later, on Apple silicon and Intel Macs. Use this guide or the form below for a question, bug report or feature request.

Install and update

Download Shot Stamp for Mac, double-click the ZIP to extract it, then drag Shot Stamp into Applications and open it. The app is Developer ID signed and notarized by Apple. macOS may show its normal first-open confirmation for a downloaded app.

Choose Shot Stamp → Check for Updates… to check manually. Open Settings to choose automatic checks and downloads; Sparkle asks before enabling automatic checks. Update requests and downloads contact ShotStamp.com. Photos, metadata, project records and local filenames are not sent for updates, and anonymous system profiling is disabled.

Prepare your first handover

Choose JPEG or HEIC photos, or drop a folder into Shot Stamp. Enter a project title, optional location label and photo-reference prefix. Use Review dates & corrections to inspect capture dates, apply an explicit clock shift or supply a date. Corrections can apply to a photo, folder, camera model or batch.

Choose your timestamp, data strip and text or logo watermark. Check Preview batch for representative landscape and portrait results, then select Export handover package. Named presets keep settings for repeat jobs. Originals stay unchanged; existing destination files are not overwritten.

Where are the exported files?

With Include contact sheet and photo index enabled, each export creates a new handover folder in your chosen destination. It contains Photos, Contact sheet.pdf and Photo index.csv. The CSV includes original date fields, resolved dates, corrections and export outcomes, including skipped or failed photos.

With reports off, folder imports create a Timestamped folder inside the source folder; individual photo imports require an output folder. Reconnect disconnected drives or select a writable destination. If macOS folder access expires, select that folder again.

Missing dates and clock corrections

A timestamp needs a date. If a photo has missing, invalid or conflicting capture metadata, review it before exporting. Explicitly supply a date or choose Finder-date fallback when that is appropriate. To export a watermark without a date, turn Timestamp off and choose a filename without date or time tokens.

Corrections change stamps, filenames and reports. Source files and the source date metadata retained in JPEG copies are unchanged. A supplied date records your chosen value, not independent proof of capture time. Date corrections belong to the current batch and clear on quit or when you clear the batch.

Location information and privacy

Reports omit embedded GPS coordinates and absolute source paths. Project and location labels you type are included. JPEG copies may retain original GPS metadata unless you enable Remove GPS location before exporting. Originals keep their existing metadata. Review both reports and images before sharing them.

Photo processing is local, with no account, subscription, photo uploads or app analytics. Updates and website requests have separate network processing, explained in the Shot Stamp privacy policy.

Supported files and devices

Shot Stamp for Mac imports JPEG and HEIC and exports JPEG. It requires macOS 14 or later and supports Apple silicon and Intel Macs. RAW files, video and animated formats are not supported.
